District 1 Madness Recaps:
AA Girls Championship: St. Pius  60  Delco Christian 37

The first quarter was very close, with Delco Christian ending it with a 12-10 lead.  While St. Pius were trying to establish a fast-paced tempo, Delco Christian slowed it down and attacked inside.  In the subsequent three quarters however, St. Pius was able to impose their will and completely control the tempo, beginning with a 13-0 run to start the second quarter.  Part of this was due to the excellent ball handling of guard Melissa Mansur (12 points, 5 rebounds) who constantly hustled the ball upcourt.  The great guard play was aided by a great interior performance from Jordan Pasik, who led all scorers with 25 points and chipped in 10 rebounds as well.  “[I] focused on playing good defense, coming out hard, and boxing out,” Pasik said after the game.   Delco Christian tried to continue feeding the ball to the inside, but St. Pius made it extremely difficult, and ran to the big win.  Even though St. Pius won big to earn their 6th straight District 1-AA championship, Pasik knows they can get better.  “We [need to] work on talking on defense as a team, and shooting better,” she said.  And if they can fix those areas, things might be even scarier for their opponents.
