District 1 Madness Recaps:
AA Boys Championship: Lower Moreland 66 Christopher Dock 51
Two energetic student sections cheered on as the two Bicentennial League rivals had their showdown for the district title. The first half was fast and competitive, with Lower Moreland getting out to a 20-9 lead, but Dock scraping back to make it 24-20 by halftime. Part of the reason Lower Moreland was able to maintain a lead was because of big man Louis Sarris-Grau, who scored 9 in the first quarter on the way to a 24 point game. He was countered by Dock’s big man, Owen Longacre, who had 7 in the first half. Lower Moreland nailed a few threes coming out of the gate in the second half, and played relentless defense that made Dock work extra hard for every point. “We wanted to have a strong start in the second half,” Sarris-Grau said after the game. “That’s been our strong point all year.” Dock was unable to break through Lower Moreland’s tight defense enough, and Lower Moreland outpaced Dock offensively with quick inbounds and relentless pursuit of the basket.
