Key interception in 2nd Quarter
The conditions were not pretty, but his punt return for a touchdown was. Akins showed great breakaway speed in the first quarter of the Mud Bowl between his North Penn Knights and the St. Joe's Prep Hawks. Scrambling down the right sideline, he scored the first touchdown of the game on a 77 yard punt return. He had a major interception before halftime that kept the Prep scoreless in the first half. And when quarterback Justin Davey needed someone to throw it to, Akins was that guy. It is for this effort in this gritty contest that Ronnie Akins earns Varsity 365 Star of the Show honors.
