Basketball Power Team of the Year:
Neumann-Goretti

The Saints finished number 1 in our Power 5 (which concluded before the State Playoffs), looking impressive and at times unstoppable all season. They won the Philadelphia city title and trekked on to the State Playoffs, where many had them as the favorites in class AAA. They would fall short, however, to Archbishop Carroll, and there dream of a state title vanished.

Nonetheless, it doesn't take away from the great effort that the team put on during the season, beating teams left and right and claiming championship gold along the way. With a 26-3 total record, and a year that made fans stand up and take notice, Neumann Goretti earns 2009 Varsity 365 Power Team of the Year honors.
