There's not much that we can say about Chennault that hasn't already been said by other websites, publications, and people that attend his games. He is a dynamic player, very good at handling the ball, taking the three, or driving into the lane. A leader on the court that exudes confidence and fearlessness.
As we said about Neumann-Goretti in our Power Team of the Year Award page, the Saints came into this year looking sharper than ever, and Chennault was one of the reasons why. As the floor general, go-to guy, decoy, or whatever he had to be for the Saints, the 6-2, senior guard executed with a sense of purpose and focus that always delivered. The entire Saints team seemed to feed off of each other's energy, and Chennault was certainly one of the biggest energy sources.
Averaging over 19 points a game (while adding nearly 6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game), Chennault has led the team to a nearly flawless record (1 loss), the Catholic League title, and the District 12 AAA title. The Saints now trek to Penn State to play Chartiers Valley for the State title. It is here that Chennault will play his final scholastic game before beginning his collegiate career at Wake Forest. We wish Chennault the best, and we know that he will represent our great city with pride. For his outstanding season, Tony Chennault earns the 2010 Varsity 365 Basketball Most Valuable Player Award.
