Performance of the Year Award

The first award exclusively created by Varsity 365 will be the Varsity 365 Performance of the Year Award, which will be given out in June.  It will be granted to one athlete (Boy or Girl) who had the selected best performance in any game or athletic event covered by Varsity 365.  While stats are very important in the selection process, overall impact on the game or event is taken in to high regard.  We will be considering athletes until our last coverage of the season (we are still tentative with our schedule for the rest of the year).  Until that point, we will list possible candidates as we get closer to the award date.

Candidate 1:
Jim McGoldrick of St. Joe's Prep Football
from Sept. 22nd Performance against Lasalle

McGoldrick played in his first game since suffering a face injury and had a kickoff and punt return for touchdowns against Lasalle.  His two scores helped aid the Prep to the home victory in the young football season.  McGoldrick earned first team Daily News All City honors along with first team All-Cahtolic honors this season. He has also recently won the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete Award.  He will be playing football at the University of Pennsylvania this Fall.

Candidate 2:
Neil Willis, Malvern Prep
from Nov. 10th Performance against Chestnut Hill Academy

In our final game as Digitex-U Sports, Malvern Prep and CHA went at it for the Inter-Ac League title.  Malvern Prep was able to win, and a big reason for that was the terrific performance of Neil Willis.  He had a rushing touchdown, a recieving touchdown, and an interception on defense to help the Friars fend off the Blue Devils 26-18.  Willis is a junior and we look forward to seeing more great things from him next year.
