Kady Schrann - York Catholic (shown here on defense)

Schrann’s a what?  A freshman?  Yeah right.  Okay, okay, she is, but she sure fooled a lot of us watching that state final game.  Her team-leading 12 points and great ball handling earned her these honors, and she’s bound to be a force for years to come.

Patrick Grubbs – Serra Catholic

Takeover.  That sounds like a good enough word to describe what Grubbs did in the second half of the Friere Charter/Serra Catholic game.  23 second half points and basket after countless basket in the fourth quarter to help his team come from behind and get the victory.  Yup, takeover sounds about right.

Gabby Singer – Central Dauphin

Singer had 19 crucial points and nailed 8 fourth quarter free throws effortlessly to ice the game for the Rams, who needed her efforts and more to come from behind to beat Mount Lebanon.

Josh Proctor – Steel-High

The whole Steel-High team was excellent, but we’ll give the slight nod for Star of the Show to Proctor, who led the team with 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks.

Rachel Connely – Marian Catholic

Mount Alvernia was just no match for Connely, one half of what we like to call the “high school twin towers” for Marian Catholic.  She had 19 points and seemed to score every time Mt. Alvernia made a push in the second half.

Shaw Sunder – Jeannette

Sunder knocked down a few clutch threes and tallied 21 points to help Jeannette hang on in the best game of the weekend.

Laura Johnson – Mount St. Joseph

Talented, calm, and cool as the leader.  Laura played excellent for the Magic, leading the team with 16 points.  Oh, and the girl got moves, too.

Khalif Wyatt, Norristown

Now we’ve never given Star of the Show to someone who wasn’t on the winning team, but an exception had to be made here.  Although Chester won the game, everyone has to agree that Wyatt stole the show, nearly single-handedly bringing Norristown all the way back from a 21 point deficit with a 19 point 4th quarter.

We know this doesn’t make up for Norristown’s loss, but at least Wyatt can know that his amazing effort was not taken for granted.
