Varsity 365 2007/2008
Performance of the Year
Best Performance in a game covered by Varsity 365 this school year
Neil Willis, Malvern Prep vs. Chestnut Hill Academy 11/10/07
1 Receiving TD, 1 Rushing TD, 1 Interception, 120 total yards
Picking a winner for Performance of the Year was not easy. High consideration was given to all nominees for their efforts. The race was so tight, that the deciding factors had to come down to not only the individual effort, but the importance of the actual game or event that the effort came in. When all was said and done, the winner selected was none other than Malvern Prep's star running back, Neil Willis, for his phenomenal performance against Chestnut Hill Academy in the Inter-Ac title game.
He did it multiple ways on offense, scoring a rushing touchdown and a receiving touchdown. He had 120 total yards (98 rushing, 22 receiving). To top it off, he further showed his versatility by getting a key interception in the 4th quarter that led to a score that would be the difference maker for the Friars. Willis' fine performance led Malvern Prep to a 26-18 victory and to their 6th outright or shared Inter-Ac title in the past 9 seasons.
It is only fitting that our final game as Digitex-U Sports before we made the transition to Varsity 365 goes down in infamy thanks to the Performance of the Year coming from it. We congratulate Neil Willis, and will be awarding him with a plaque this upcoming football season as he prepares to astound again during his senior year.
